Robert Plant and Alison Krauss – Can’t Let Go
In 2007, Robert Plant and Alison Krauss teamed up to release an album called Raising Sand.
Robert Plant and Alison Krauss? Really?!?
But what an album that was. And in retrospect, when you strip away all the rock-God hubbub from his Led Zeppelin days and distill the music down to its roots, you see that Robert Plant as Americana as any Brit could be.
Fast forward 14 years, to last month. Plant and Krauss have finally released a sequel — produced again by T-Bone Burnett and featuring many of the same artists from the Raising Sand sessions.
This one’s called Raise the Roof, and it’s as great as the first one.
Today’s song is one that Randy Weeks wrote. It was first recorded by Lucinda Williams in 1998 for the “Car Wheels on a Gravel Road” album.
I love Williams’ version.
Plant and Krauss do it justice…
