Todd Rundgren – Dust in the Wind
Yesterday’s featured artists (Hall & Oates) and today’s (Todd Rundgren) all came from Philadelphia — where soul music ruled.
Close your eyes and listen to yesterday’s song (“She’s Gone”) and you’ll hear its Philly Soul roots. Or better yet, go find Lou Rawls cover version and you’ll hear it.
Then listen to today’s song. Same musical DNA. Most don’t think of Todd Rundgren as a soul singer. In fact, Rundgren defies genres. But listen to today’s song and so many others from his catalog, and you’ll hear the soul.
By the way, don’t be mistaken by the title of today’s song. It’s not a cover of that song by Kansas. Todd wrote and released his song first. And even though it wasn’t a hit, it’s way better than that Top-40 tune Kansas released…
